Thurman Merman

The Bills drafted Thurman Merman. I love it.

Unsurprisingly, today's topic is hockey. I was reluctant to talk about it because the Sabres ingloriously shit the bed this season, and I don't feel like using this space to complain about it (eff Scott Gomez!).

Anyways, I went to game 5 of the Caps vs. Rangers playoff series, and it was pretty awesome. Playoff hockey is superb and I don't have a problem rooting for the Caps with Buffalo out of the picture, especially against the Rangers. After the game I came away with one thought and I'll make it a guarantee - Ovechkin will win his back to back MVP award. If I just jinxed it, Robby will break my knees.

Although, this will always be fun:

It'll be interesting to see how DC reacts if the Caps pull off this comeback on Tuesday. When you have the Natinals, Wizards, and Skins offseason, there will be no doubt that DC is turning into a hockey town.

Go Sabres!

Glitter is the Herpes of Arts and Crafts

The fact that this isn't about hockey is beyond me.

Anyhow, I haven't seen a lot of comedians live. In fact, in recent memory I can think of 4 headliners - Dave Chappelle, Demetri Martin, Bob Saget (pronounced săzhā), and Frank Caliendo (yikes). Nothing will top Chappelle. It was his first tour after his reflective vacation to Africa, he performed on his birthday, and Mos Def showed up unannounced and played a few songs.

That said, we saw Demetri Martin last weekend, and he didn't disappoint. He's become more recognizable since I last saw him live during his days "trendspotting," with his new show and upcoming lead role in Taking Woodstock. He has an uncanny ability to dissect the English language wittily, interact with the crowd, and blend old and new jokes together while composing music. Also, he pulls it off without sounding like this hackdouche:

I suggest you go see him perform. And then get some Julia's Empanadas.

I've Made a Huge Mistake

Yeah, this is a mistake. A mistake that has been in the works for the past few weeks, but one that is just finally launching. Why now? One answer is the Sabres have officially been eliminated from reaching the 2009 NHL playoffs, so I have some extra time to kill. Another answer is because I want to live blog the Arrested Development movie if it ever comes out. This means I'll need to practice live blogging. Potential things to live blog include: fantasy baseball weeks, Passover, road trips, days at work, Secret Asian Man's wedding, and of course live blogging The Big Manatee's blog. When that destroys the internet, I'll be sure to live blog that on pen and paper for you*.

I'll also post links to things that likely, only I find entertaining. Like this. And I'll talk about Arrested Development. And Buffalo. Come on! that was expected.

Also, I love trailers:
